Boy, what a great day to be an Arizona sports fan! All four major teams in the state won!

Phoenix Suns took care of the Dallas Mavericks at US Airways Arena, as Steve Nash scored 24 points, dished out 13 assists and pulled down six boards in Phoenix’s 109-97 win over a short-handed Dallas Mavericks in the league’s final game before the All-Star break.

Sun Devils freshman sensation James Harden (pictured) had a team-high 23 points to go with five rebounds, five assists and five steals, as Arizona State upended seventh-ranked Stanford, 72-68, in overtime in Tempe. Jeff Pendergraph scored 15 points and pulled down 12 boards for the Sun Devils (16-7, 6-5 Pac-10), who have won two straight following a five-game losing streak. Stanford ends their seven game winning streak despite the Cardinal’s (20-4, 9-3) Brook Lopez’s game-high 30 points.

The Arizona Wildcats beat up the California Golden Bears, 83-73 thanks to winning it with free throws as that was the difference in this contest, as Arizona outscored California 29-11. Jerryd Bayless scored 33 points to lead the Wildcats over the Bears in Pac-10 Conference action at the McKale Center in Tucson. Jordan Hill added 21 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for Arizona who improve to 16-8, 6-5 Pac-10, while Chase Budinger netted 18 points. California falls to 14-9, 5-7 Pac-10.

And finally, you know it’s a great day when the Phoenix Coyotes win, especially at home in Jobing.com Arena. They won big with a major team effort. They knocked off the Dallas Stars, who they just lost too on Monday 2-1, 5-2. Radim Vrbata had a goal and two assists while Shane Doan, Daniel Carcillo, Niko Kapanen, and Nicholas Boynton also tallied a goal for the Coyotes. The win was their first victory in their past seven games.

So to recap Valentine’s Day, the Suns, Devils, Wildcats and Coyotes all won and all won on their respective home floors. If I had time and if anyone really cared, I would do some research and find out the last time that has happened - all four teams in season, all winning at home, on the same day! I have a feeling it has been a while!

I guess Valentine’s Day can be pretty good afterall!!!
